About

Girl in the No brings you highlights of the best Norfolk has to offer. As a Norfolk local, I wanted to share my passion for all things Norfolk. From the best restaurants, to scenic strolls and everything in between. Enjoy!

Pressed for Ideas on Where to Brunch? Try Press 626!

There are few places where people take their brunch as seriously as in Norfolk. For many Norfolk locals, their entire weekend might be planned around brunch. And as the weather continues to warm up, we’re all looking for more excuses to get out and soak up some sunshine with friends. What better way to enjoy some Vitamin C than dining alfresco with a mimosa in hand?

Elevate Your Brunch Experience with Press 626

Press 626 provides the ideal dining experience, although fair warning, if you pay them a visit, you’ll never want to brunch anywhere else. While their happy hour and dinner experience are also top-notch, brunch provides a more light and airy, cheerful feel that’s perfect for catching up with girlfriends, an afternoon date, or taking your mom to celebrate Mother’s Day. I’ve been celebrating with my mom here for the past several years and would highly recommend – their three course meal is to die for, and makes moms feel extra special.

The Ambiance

Nestled in the heart of Ghent off Olney, this historic Victorian home turned wine bar gives off the coziest and cheerful of vibes at the same time. From the modern lighting paired with natural light from the beautiful bay windows, to the welcoming fireplace and wine-themed artwork covering exposed brick walls, this place checks all the boxes. They have added an outdoor dining area that feels like a wine bar oasis, with string lights, plants, and pops of color sprinkled throughout. Even the bathrooms are warm and inviting!

The Fare

While the atmosphere alone will keep you coming back, the food is exquisite. Portions are the perfect size, and each dish has a dash of whimsy to give a unique twist to typical brunch menu items. I had the veggie frittata and a side of jalapeño cheddar grits, and it was exactly what I had hoped for. The meal paired extremely well with my champagne citrus sangria.

Overall Experience

I’ve tried quite a few brunch places in Norfolk, and there’s nowhere that compares to Press 626. It’s unique atmosphere, sophisticated food and drink menu and welcoming staff can’t be beat.
