The Perfect Fall Day in Norfolk

Fall Foliage on Colley Avenue in Norfolk.jpg

Fallelujah, autumn is in full swing! For those that love changing leaves, football, and all things pumpkin, this is the most anticipated time of the year. With Norfolk getting into full fall mode now that it’s October, there are so many fun festivities to celebrate sweater weather. Check out this itinerary for a day chock-full of fall in Norfolk.

Kick off the Day with a Ginger Pear Latte from Cure

Cure Coffeehouse Sign.jpg

While I’m a sucker for the classic pumpkin spice latte, the ginger pear latte is just as cozy and comforting to provide the fall vibes you’re looking for – although you can still get Cure’s pumpkin spice latte if you’re desiring a more basic fall fave. Enjoy your cup of joe with Cure Coffeehouse ambiance and a fresh pastry or avocado toast, or take it to go and wander the streets of the Freemason District. This is the perfect backdrop to enjoy the crisp fall air along cobblestone streets and festive front porch décor embellishing the beautiful historic homes.

Go Leaf Peeping at the Norfolk Botanical Garden

One of the main allures of cooler weather is the changing leaves. Where better to find optimal fall foliage than by going leaf peeping at the Norfolk Botanical Garden? To elevate your experience, grab a sandwich to go from the Ten and bring it to enjoy for a picnic in the park. Here’s a full list of their fall gardens, including the Enchanted Forest, to check out for prime fall color viewing.

Grab a Bite at Torch Bistro

As the sun starts to set, head to Torch Bistro to warm up around their firepit with a seasonal beer and a cup of chorizo chili. This laid back bistro has delicious food, a wide selection of beers on tap, and cozy ambiance for those in search of the perfect fireside chat.

Cap the Day off with a Spooky Walk Through West Ghent

Since you’re already in West Ghent, grab yourself a hot apple cider (with Fireball for added spooky fun) and roam the streets to enjoy the Halloween decorations. The houses go all out, ranging from cute pumpkin patch vibes to full blown horror movie settings. This neighborhood is a Halloween fiend’s delight!

If you can’t decide between cozy and spooky, there’s no stopping you from doing it all!
