The newest tenant on Colley Avenue, Tacos Y Tequila, is bringing some of the most delicious fare to Norfolk! This centrally located hot spot in the heart of Ghent brings a new option for Mexican food while paying homage to previous tenant, Red Dog Saloon, by keeping the sports bar atmosphere alive. The employees are welcoming and friendly, and happy to help patrons narrow down their choice for what to order on a very lengthy menu.

Tacos and Other Tasty Food Options

One of my favorite parts of eating at a Mexican restaurant is the apps. And Tacos Y Tequila has just as wide of a variety in their starters as they do in their tacos and their tequila! Choose from delicious options such as empanadas, street corn, plantains, ceviche, and of course, fresh tableside guacamole.

While tacos are a main staple at Tacos y Tequila, from carnitas to chorizo and even birria varieties, the full menu ranges from light and refreshing snacks to savory and hearty dishes.

Just a few of the main courses include chipotle enchiladas, California burritos, and even a seafood tower. For those of us who can never decide on what to order, great news. You don’t have to! The combo option allows visitors to mix and match multiple options for you to try it all.

Pair your meal with a refreshing beverage. The menu has no shortage of options to quench your thirst. The margarita selection alone is almost overwhelming, although the jalapeno marg, my go-to, makes the choice a little easier.

Colorful tiles and mosaics adorn the walls, accompanied by fun neon signs to greet guests in the entryway.  The bar in the center of the restaurant maintains a buzz of energy throughout the space, and the outdoor patio allows visitors to be present in the vibrant streets of Ghent while enjoying their meal.

Tacos Y Tequila will definitely be my new go-to for Mexican food. The quality and freshness of the food and drinks for an affordable price is a rare find. It’s also in such a convenient location and brings a vibrant atmosphere, perfect to enjoy on any occasion. Whether a breezy afternoon on the patio, grabbing margaritas and tacos for a date night, or watching the big game on Sunday at the bar, Tacos Y Tequila is your perfect spot.
